From East to West, Fresh Wins with Edo Japan

Brookline’s long-standing client Edo Japan has been kicking off 2018 with a bang, celebrating the launch of its new Fresh Take concept with a series of grand opening events as well as expanding into Eastern Canada. The Alberta-based franchise introduced its exciting new concept as an evolution of the traditional Edo brand, inviting a new demographic of customers to enjoy updated offerings. The Fresh Take concept includes a revitalized store design and layout; refreshed branding; menu evolution; a grab and go market wall and more.

The new concept was developed following an extensive research process, providing key insights into the millennial consumer, a key driver in today’s restaurant spend. Ultimately, Fresh Take was created with the intention of targeting millennials, while continuing to appeal to the wide range of customers who dine at Edo.

Fresh Take was first introduced in the Edmonton market, with a brand new location opening in North Town Centre and two additional locations that featured a hybrid design of the new concept. A media event celebrating the opening and the unveiling of the concept saw attendance from prominent Edmonton media and influencers who were among the first to experience the new look, tasty samples of new menu items and more. Calgary’s Shawnessy location was next to receive a Fresh Take makeover and the newly renovated store was opened to the public with a celebratory event soon after.

During this flurry of activity, Edo continued with expansion to the east, opening its very first Winnipeg location at Polo Park Mall with a similar celebratory event for the public and media to attend. Edo’s first foray into this eastern market was very well received by new customers, influencers and media alike, with coverage from the likes of CJOB 680, Winnipeg Free press and Canadian Business Franchise.

Brookline managed media outreach for the openings in all three markets, inviting media and influencers to visit the new locations, learn more about the evolution of Edo and its fresh, quality offerings, and share about the new concept with their audiences. In addition to traditional media coverage in all markets, local influencers shared about the concept and the store openings on their social channels and blog platforms, providing additional reach to their followers.

Edo is set to continue rolling out the Fresh Take concept in both new and existing locations across Canada and Brookline is excited to continue to be involved in the ongoing introduction of Fresh Take to markets from coast-to-coast.

KLM – Five Years of Inspiration

Monday, August 11th, 2014

Recently, Brookline helped KLM Royal Dutch Airlines celebrate its five year anniversary in Calgary. KLM first landed in Calgary in May 2009 and has spent the past five years delivering quality service to international travellers.  Brookline was pleased to help plan a two-part event that highlighted KLM’s success and bright future in Calgary.

The slogan for the anniversary was “KLM – 5 Years of Inspiration” and focused on celebrating and sharing the stories that make KLM a unique airline in the industry.  With a great understanding of the Calgary market, Brookline supported KLM in delivering a professional and creative event.

Held at Rush Ocean Prime in downtown Calgary, the event kicked-off with a luncheon that welcomed trade partners, airport executives and key media. Brookline recognized the event needed to be both classic and modern, and worked with Rush Ocean Prime to create a three-course menu that drew on traditional Dutch cuisine for inspiration. Continuing with the Dutch theme, Brookline incorporated subtle hints of the Netherlands’ landscape with tulip centrepieces and windmill accents.

The event continued later that night with an evening reception for social media fans and Flying Blue members, KLM’s frequent flyer program. Guests were treated to live music, hors d’oeuvres and a swag bag featuring KLM goodies. Everyone was invited to take their picture at the onsite photo booth for a chance to win two round-trip tickets to any European destination. Jonathan Love from Calgary’s very own HeeBee-Jeebees was even on hand to snap a few photos with fans.

Members of the Brookline team helped manage event logistics and show flow (and test out the photobooth firsthand). Here at Brookline, we are honoured KLM chose us to help celebrate such a momentous occasion in Calgary.

Re-opening of Catch & The Oyster Bar

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

Brookline Public Relations helped Catch & The Oyster Bar re-open their doors to reveal a fresh new look and menu on Friday, September 23rd, 2011. The pearl of Stephen Avenue closed for a two month transformation and has returned to Calgary’s diverse culinary scene with a fresh “Catch”.

The newly renovated space is separated into two exciting venues that celebrate the restaurant’s historic location and award-winning menu offerings. The Oyster Bar (main level) has been refreshed to emphasize the energy and character of the popular raw bar. The new bar brings the oyster experience and show kitchen front and centre for guests, offering a more social, culinary interaction. Catch (upstairs) has moved away from its original formal dining room feel and has been converted into an urban loft-like seafood bistro. Guests can still expect the same excellent service, quality ingredients and fine cuisine it is known for, but with a new, exciting ambiance.

The Brookline team celebrated the re-opening with Calgary’s culinary media at a sneak-a-peek preview night before the grand re-opening. We sampled Executive Chef Kyle Groves’ delicious creations such as B.C. Kusshi oysters smoked tableside, scallop ceviche with lime caviar and lemon confit, and B.C. spot prawns poached in pinot gris. Yum yum.

Catch & The Oyster bar has also livened up their features, now offering a unique tableside martini service, an interactive LiveMenu, and bring your own wine (BYOW) Tuesdays.

The Brookline team will surely be back soon for a team lunch/dinner in The Oyster Bar because we’re shuckers for a good time!
