A Taste of Allora Everyday Italian

Friday, April 24th, 2020

Jenna Hamilton, Account Coordinator

Allora Everyday Italian (Allora) is the newest offering from one of Calgary’s culinary leaders, Vintage Group. Allora offers Calgarians an authentic Italian experience every visit with fresh, locally sourced, house-made or imported ingredients directly from Italy. Earlier this year, Brookline invited a small group of local food media and influencers to attend an exclusive event to get a taste of what Allora has to offer.

The evening started with a behind-the-scenes tour of the restaurant, where guests had the opportunity to see the chefs in action. Following the tour, Executive Chef Thipp went through a pasta making demonstration showcasing how to make homemade squid ink pasta – attendees were able to make their own small batch to take home!

After the demonstration, guests were treated to cocktails and a three-course dinner featuring a variety of menu favourites. Offerings included prime meatballs, broken sausage pasta, roasted wild mushrooms pasta, carbonara, wild grilled salmon, and tiramisu. While dining, an informal Q&A session with Chef Thipp dominated the conversation. He shared the story behind the meals, how they were created and the ingredients that go into them – except, of course, Chef Thipp’s top secret ones.

As the evening concluded, guests went home with not only a full stomach, but a personalized gift bag that included a bag of homemade pasta and a customized gift card for their next visit. The evening was a huge success and the Brookline team was thrilled to manage the event. Overall, Brookline’s efforts resulted in 63 pieces of coverage and over 50,000 social media impressions for Allora and Vintage Group.

An Evening to Remember at Chairman’s Steakhouse

Tuesday, July 30th, 2019

Ottilie Coldbeck, Public Relations Assistant

Last month, Chairman’s Steakhouse opened in Mahogany’s lake-side resort-style community, Westman Village by Jayman BUILT. Chairman’s is an exciting new culinary concept brought to life by one of Calgary’s most notable restauranteurs, Vintage Group in the south of Calgary.

This new restaurant embodies the glitz and glamour of Old Hollywood, inviting all to experience the iconic era of the Rat Pack and Marilyn Monroe. However, opening a restaurant of this calibre outside of Calgary’s downtown core meant that awareness and word-of-mouth were key drivers in inviting Calgarians from across the city to experience the steakhouse.

The Grand Opening in June included a VIP guest list of Calgarians, influencers and media to experience the unique concept restaurant. Guests were greeted by paparazzi along a red-carpet entrance. Once inside, the restaurant had been transformed into an Old Hollywood scene, with live music and a 3D photobooth inspired by a classic movie premier.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without a few special guests. Brookline coordinated Rat Pack Impersonators, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr, accompanied by Marilyn Monroe, to be flown in from Las Vegas to add a creative flare.

From an Old Hollywood inspired cocktail menu, to Vintage Car photo ops and live music entertainment, no detail was forgotten for this iconic grand opening event.

In addition to event coordination and management, Brookline facilitated all media relations efforts related to Chairman’s. This included a long-lead media strategy prior to the official opening and a post-launch media engagement strategy for continued momentum.

To generate buzz for the opening of Chairman’s Steakhouse in advance of the opening, Brookline coordinated with long lead publications, including Avenue Magazine, City Palate and Culinaire Magazine to secure coverage for the highly-anticipated opening. Media and influencers in attendance at the June 8th opening event generated coverage across both traditional and social media platforms, including long form articles in both Calgary Herald and Curiocity Calgary.

Following the grand opening, Brookline engaged with local media and influencers for an exclusive dinner at the restaurant with demonstrations from Executive Head Chef Cedric Truchon and resident mixologist Justin “JD” Darnes.

Brookline’s efforts resulted in coverage in a variety of print and online publications, and a Global News Morning segment featuring Executive Head Chef Truchon. With the city still buzzing about the new restaurant offering and guests raving about their experience, Chairman’s Steakhouse is set to be the talk of the town for many months to come.

Brookline was thrilled to work alongside Westman Village and Vintage Group for this event and to continue working with Jayman BUILT and Westman Village as their agency of record for all communications initiatives.

From East to West, Fresh Wins with Edo Japan

Tuesday, April 10th, 2018

Ottile Coldbeck, Public Relations Intern

Brookline’s long-standing client Edo Japan has been kicking off 2018 with a bang, celebrating the launch of its new Fresh Take concept with a series of grand opening events as well as expanding into Eastern Canada. The Alberta-based franchise introduced its exciting new concept as an evolution of the traditional Edo brand, inviting a new demographic of customers to enjoy updated offerings. The Fresh Take concept includes a revitalized store design and layout; refreshed branding; menu evolution; a grab and go market wall and more.

The new concept was developed following an extensive research process, providing key insights into the millennial consumer, a key driver in today’s restaurant spend. Ultimately, Fresh Take was created with the intention of targeting millennials, while continuing to appeal to the wide range of customers who dine at Edo.

Fresh Take was first introduced in the Edmonton market, with a brand new location opening in North Town Centre and two additional locations that featured a hybrid design of the new concept. A media event celebrating the opening and the unveiling of the concept saw attendance from prominent Edmonton media and influencers who were among the first to experience the new look, tasty samples of new menu items and more. Calgary’s Shawnessy location was next to receive a Fresh Take makeover and the newly renovated store was opened to the public with a celebratory event soon after.

During this flurry of activity, Edo continued with expansion to the east, opening its very first Winnipeg location at Polo Park Mall with a similar celebratory event for the public and media to attend. Edo’s first foray into this eastern market was very well received by new customers, influencers and media alike, with coverage from the likes of CJOB 680, Winnipeg Free press and Canadian Business Franchise.

Brookline managed media outreach for the openings in all three markets, inviting media and influencers to visit the new locations, learn more about the evolution of Edo and its fresh, quality offerings, and share about the new concept with their audiences. In addition to traditional media coverage in all markets, local influencers shared about the concept and the store openings on their social channels and blog platforms, providing additional reach to their followers.

Edo is set to continue rolling out the Fresh Take concept in both new and existing locations across Canada and Brookline is excited to continue to be involved in the ongoing introduction of Fresh Take to markets from coast-to-coast.
