Discovering The Dorian Hotel through the eyes of Calgary’s creatives

When you walk into The Dorian, Autograph Collection & Courtyard by Marriott Calgary Downtown (The Dorian), you truly experience a place like no other. When Brookline partnered with The Dorian to prepare for its grand opening in July 2022, we knew the best way to showcase its 137 uniquely themed guest rooms, eccentric colours, and boutique-inspired design elements was to have it portrayed through the eyes of some of Calgary’s most creative and sought-after influencers and media outlets.

Ahead of the hotel’s unveiling, our team supported The Dorian with its sneak peek dinner, One Wilde Night. The event served as a preview for The Dorian’s restaurant, The Wilde on 27 Lounge (The Wilde) and provided guests the opportunity to indulge in signature cocktails, dinner and live music prior to the official opening of the hotel.

Leading up to the event we developed and designed social media content, designed the invitation, coordinated event logistics and managed media and influencer relations. Our team also scheduled several influencer tours to provide an exclusive viewing of the hotel’s one-of-a-kind amenities, rooms and restaurant options. Then, it was time to tackle the final details of the preview dinner to ensure guests had One Wilde Night.

On the night of the dinner, our team travelled up to the twenty-seventh floor to provided on-site support to The Dorian team, coming prepared with a detailed show flow that outlined the event timeline. We monitored attendance and coordinated media interviews with key spokespeople throughout the event. The dinner was well attended with a total of 35 guests that included influencers, media and their respective guests. The event garnered 75 online articles and 25 social media mentions.

As the hotel settled in over the summer months, The Dorian team approached Brookline about coordinating its first P.O.E.T.S. (Piss Off Early Tomorrow’s Saturday) Day cocktail hour, a new weekly event that is a spinoff of a British tradition. The first event was planned to coincide with Oscar Wilde’s birthday, as the late poet is one of the main inspirations for The Dorian and The Wilde.

Our team set out to invite influencers, media and Dorian clients to the event as a way to showcase the diverse group of people that the weekly cocktail hour would host. When we arrived to provide on-site support, in the same fashion as the July event, we were greeted by an Oscar Wilde actor, a DJ and a fabulous and beautifully curated cake in the shape of an Oscar Wilde novel, “The Picture of Dorian Gray”. We had high attendance and the social media coverage reached more than 2,800 people.

With one-of-a-kind artwork and ambitious design elements, blending modern comfort with British whimsy and local flavour, The Dorian is truly a masterpiece. Our team at Brookline was proud to share its remarkable qualities with the world through the eyes of some of Calgary’s most unique and authentic influencers and media outlets.
