SKY Residences reveals stunning new show suites at its iconic Edmonton address in ICE District

Tuesday, May 7th, 2019

If you were an Edmontonian in April, it would’ve been hard to avoid hearing about SKY Residences at ICE District (SKY Residences).

Located in Stantec Tower and stretching from floors 31-66, SKY Residences offers residents the ultimate urban living experience from the tallest building in Canada outside of Toronto. Edmonton got a first-hand look of the newly opened show suites and the premium amenities at several public open houses in April.

The amenities of SKY Residences are endless, which is unsurprising since the dedicated amenity floor on level 30 has a space of over 20,000 square feet to fill. After move-in this fall, residents will have access to a stunning rooftop terrace, hot tub, demonstration kitchen, billiards lounge, and a fitness centre with inarguably the best view in the city. On top of that, there’s a dog spa – yes, you read that right – for the residents of SKY with furry friends.

Brookline managed four days of public open houses over the span of two weekends, which brought in nearly 2,000 prospective buyers to the sky-high show suites. Through strong media relations with key media outlets in Edmonton, Brookline ensured public awareness of the event was maximized. Prior to the open house, a media tour was held in the show suites that garnered coverage of SKY Residences in CTV Edmonton, Global News Edmonton, CityTV Edmonton and Edmonton Journal. Brookline also had the pleasure of working on-the-ground managing event logistics throughout the open house weekends.

Up in the decorated show suites, guests were escorted on tours of six newly completed SKY Residences show suites with views stretching far beyond Edmonton city limits. Down on ground-level, they were treated to other delights, such as access to a sneak-peek of other businesses in and around ICE District, air brush tattoo and balloon artists, and free pizza from Boston Pizza! Overall, the events were a smashing success.

It’s an exciting time in Edmonton’s revitalized downtown ICE District. Those seeking to live just steps away from more than a dozen bars, restaurants and shopping, as well as Rogers Place and Loblaws CityMarket™, scheduled to be open in 2020, can have it all in the beautiful SKY Residences.

Stantec Tower Officially Reaches Historic Heights as the Tallest Tower Outside of Toronto

Monday, December 3rd, 2018

Jenna Hamilton, Public Relations Assistant

It’s official! Edmonton is now home to the tallest tower outside of Toronto. On November 16th, ICE District celebrated the topping off of Stantec Tower, marking the structural completion of the building. Standing tall at 69-storeys, this impressive beacon has forever changed Edmonton’s skyline.

To mark this historic milestone, Brookline supported in planning a press conference on the 60th floor of Stantec Tower, where guests had the opportunity to see spectacular views of the city. The event included a short, formal program with remarks from Glen Scott from Katz Group Real Estate, Gord Johnston from Stantec and Councillor Mohinder Banga from the City of Edmonton. In commemoration of this milestone, ICE District partners and executives were invited to the stage for the symbolic signing of a beam, which is now ceremoniously displayed in the lobby of Stantec Tower.

Following the signing, those brave enough to go outside on the 68th floor to stand at the highest, coldest point outside of Russia (yes, you read that right) were invited for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, heading to the top of the tower to view Edmonton’s landscape from every angle. A view that only a few will have the opportunity to see atop Stantec Tower. Attendees could see the North Saskatchewan River from miles away, and look 251 metres down to see cars that were the size of ants.

Brookline’s media relations efforts resulted in 41 national media stories from several major outlets, and over 6 million impressions. The team was honoured to have been part of this historic milestone for ICE District, and is looking forward to celebrating the completion of SKY Residences atop Stantec Tower in the fall of 2019.

Brookline has planned and executed several large announcements for our client, the Edmonton Arena District, but none bigger than the launch of the official brand for the development. We knew the launch of the brand – Ice District – would be a major story in the Edmonton area and even across Canada.

The launch of the brand featured two events on July 13th, 2015, a VIP event in the morning followed by a media event for the public unveiling in the afternoon. Brookline oversaw event planning and media relations for both launch events, which also took place at and marked the official opening of Ice HQ.

Coordination of the VIP event, from save-the-dates through to thank-you gifts, saw Brookline manage setup and event flow and also hire and manage catering, A/V, DJ, security, and even an ice sculptor. Ice District partners, community officials, and executives including Daryl Katz, Darren Durstling of WAM Development Group, Bob Nicholson, CEO and Vice-Chair of Oilers Entertainment Group, Edmonton City Councillor Scott McKeen were treated to a breakfast and a private launch of the brand.

During the media event, Brookline coordinated media for the press conference, which saw more than a dozen outlets and over thirty members of the media in attendance. The event debuted the brand launch video, featured speeches from Bob Nicholson and Councillor McKeen, and even a ceremonial ice breaking in lieu of a ribbon cutting.

The launch of Ice District was leading news in every major outlet in Edmonton and was also covered extensively in Calgary and throughout national and trade publications. A total of 214 unique media stories were captured related to the launch of the brand. Local and regional outlets included Edmonton Journal, Global Edmonton, CBC Edmonton, Edmonton Sun, Metro Edmonton, CTV, Alberta Venture and several radio stations. National outlets that covered the news included The Globe and Mail, MSN, CBC, Global, TSN, Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, SportsNet and Yahoo! News, and more.
