Launching a new Pursuit

Monday, May 29th, 2017

Jerrica Goodwin, Account Executive

Brookline was excited to help launch the new brand – Pursuit – for Viad’s Travel & Recreation Group earlier this year. Viad’s Travel & Recreation Group brings travellers closer to nature with their attractions and hotels in iconic destinations that span Banff, Jasper, Waterton Lakes, Glacier, Denali and Kenai Fjords national parks and Vancouver, BC.

The Pursuit brand more closely aligns the group with its collection of unforgettable experiences and the passion of their staff to share those experiences with guests. Pursuit provides experiential travel adventures for visitors whether it’s a 150 km sightseeing experience on Denali’s park road, riding a giant Ice Explorer on an ancient glacier in the Rocky Mountains or staying in a historic lodge on the outskirts of Glacier National Park; there’s an experience for everyone.

Brookline provided media relations support for the announcement of the new brand, including the drafting of media materials and reaching out to media. With Pursuit’s large spanning geographical reach, it was important to inform the media in all of Pursuit’s immediate markets including Alaska, Montana, Alberta and Vancouver, and to also share the news with travel and trade publications. Brookline’s work to reach out to each market’s news and travel publications paid off – the announcement was a success and well received by media, partners and the public.

The belle of the ball…

Brookline provides public relations support on a number of initiatives in southern Alberta for Ford of Canada, including media relations for the 2017 Calgary International Auto and Truck Show.

This year’s Calgary International Auto and Truck Show had something for everyone from small compact cars to heavy-duty pickup trucks, but the real belle of the ball was the Ford GT.

Complete with a roped off perimeter, this supercar showcased top technology including EcoBoost® performance, aerodynamics, lightweight carbon fiber construction and a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6, which produces more than 600 horsepower.

With eye candy like this, it was smooth sailing when securing media opportunities. Brookline garnered multiple TV, radio and print interviews regarding the all-new Ford GT and many of the other outstanding Ford vehicles at this year’s auto show. Media were also intrigued to try out the specially designed driving suits from Ford. These included the Ford Third Age Suit, which simulates sensory challenges experienced in later life, and the Ford Pregnancy Suit, which simulates some of the physical attributes of being pregnant.

Media interviews included chatting with personalities from Global Calgary, CTV Calgary, Shaw TV, Breakfast Television, 660 News, 770 News and Automotive Testing Technology Magazine. Brookline even had the chance to support the media interviews by donning the Ford Pregnancy Suit and the Ford Third Age Suit, for two television segments.

Each driving suit was specially designed by Ford engineers to simulate the challenges some drivers face when they are is specific stages of life such as pregnancy and mature age. While wearing these suits, we demonstrated movements of getting in and out of Ford vehicles, as well as ergonomics of the vehicles.

The 2017 Calgary International Auto and Truck Show was an exciting project for our team at Brookline and we can’t wait to see what Ford has in store for next year!

Brookline had the opportunity to provide public relations support to ICE District as it officially opened Edmonton Tower for business, the first of several planned towers to open its doors to the public. Brookline supported with event management and media relations for the Grand Opening celebration in February.

The announcement was held in the lobby of the Edmonton Tower – a stunning space to match the contemporary architecture and innovative design of ICE District.

ICE District partners, community officials, and executives including Daryl Katz of Katz Group, Darren Durstling of ONE Properties, Bob Nicholson, CEO and Vice-Chair of Oilers Entertainment Group, City of Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson were all present at the event. Guests were treated to speeches from key figures, ribbon cutting with photo opportunity and lively performances from Firefly Theatre and Circus.

Edmonton Tower is a modern, Class AAA office building that not only features world-class sustainability systems, but is designed to be both architecturally-progressive and highly functional. To the west, it will be connected above ground to the forthcoming JW Marriott Edmonton, which will link it directly to Rogers Place. An above-ground walkway joins Edmonton Tower and Bell Tower on the south, providing indoor access to the rest of the downtown pedway system.

The City of Edmonton is the primary tenant of Edmonton Tower, which began transitioning the majority of its staff to the Tower in the fall of 2016. On the second floor of Edmonton Tower, the city opened its Edmonton Service Centre, providing Edmontonians with central, easy access to licensing, ticketing and other City services

ICE District also features the home of the Edmonton Oilers, Rogers Place, and will soon feature a vibrant public plaza, JW Marriott Edmonton, condominiums, retail, restaurants, nightlife and more.
