    Alberta Securities Commission

    Project Description

One in three Albertans will be approached by a possible fraud investment at some point in their life. To assist the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) and Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) in increasing awareness and providing education surrounding fraud, Brookline developed an integrated communications campaign with the launch of a new, consumer focused website, “Checkfirst.ca”.

Brookline created a multifaceted campaign using a mix of traditional and non-traditional tactics. Built on the slogan of “Check. Protect. Invest”, the creative campaign set out to encourage Albertans to educate themselves about fraud prevention. Brookline executed a national ad buy, developed the Checkfirst.ca website and has run a number of public awareness campaigns. Activations have included:

    • “There’s no such thing as a free lunch” food truck wrap campaign
    • “Don’t get tricked by fraud” Halloween campaign
    • “Don’t get burned”, a Checkfirst “Café” activation

Brookline’s campaigns have consistently drawn attention to fraud prevention, garnering traditional and social media coverage. As a result of the campaign, more than 25 publications covered the ASC, providing Albertans with greater knowledge of the risk of investment fraud.

    Cabela's Canada

    Project Description

Beginning with their entry to the Calgary market and most recently for the grand opening in Abbotsford, BC, Brookline was tasked with media training Cabela’s staff and media relations for each event. In both Calgary and Abbotsford, Brookline provided a package that included a half day media training session, coordination and execution of a media preview event, plus onsite media relations during the grand opening festivities.

In Calgary, Brookline trained both store management and Cabela’s executives in advance of the media-only preview, which saw dozens of Calgary journalists, bloggers and influencers attend to scope out the store before it opened to the public. Brookline arranged for Breakfast Television to shoot onsite from inside the store which included several live hits that featured Cabela’s broad range of outdoors products, its indoor archery range and the always-popular “mountain” of animal displays.

Onsite at the Calgary grand opening, Brookline coordinated multiple TV cameras, arranged interviews with Cabela’s management and executives and ensured the bloggers and influencers in attendance were provided special treatment. Extensive coverage in local TV, radio and print outlets helped to bolster the city’s excitement for the launch of the store.

Following the success of the Calgary launch, Brookline was again called upon to provide similar services for the opening of Cabela’s newest store in Canada, this time in Abbotsford, BC. In Abbotsford, two weeks prior to the public grand opening, Brookline was on-the-ground to provide media training, both education and on-camera practice, and run an invite-only media preview. Many of Lower Mainland’s most well-known bloggers and influencers from several specialities were in attendance, including those focused on parenting, lifestyle, events and outdoors sports. They were joined by local print, online and TV outlets to preview the 70,000 square foot outdoors mecca.

Brookline was onsite for the grand opening festivities, which saw thousands of people through the doors on opening day, some lining up several days in advance to be at the front of the line. Brookline liaised with local media onsite prior to and during the grand opening, which resulted in print and online video coverage of the event.

In addition to the annual fair and exhibition, the Calgary Stampede is home to the Calgary Stampede Foundation – a charitable organization that invests millions into Calgary’s community programs yearly.

In summer 2011, Brookline coordinated the unveiling of Joe Fafard’s “Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Si Do” sculpture to commemorate Calgary and Quebec City’s sister-city relationship. The Fafard art unveiling welcomed more than 140 attendees, including prominent Calgarians and political figures, in celebration of public art and the positive relationships shared between Canadian cities.

In 2013, Brookline also organized the announcement of the Calgary Stampede Foundation’s largest individual donation from local philanthropist, Don Taylor. The execution of a seamless press conference and media relations outreach program, garnered positive awareness for the $100 million “We’re Greatest Together” capital campaign.

    Franworks Group of Companies

    Project Description

Brookline Public Relations has been working with FranWorks Group of Companies (“FranWorks”) for more than 5 years, proudly supporting all three of FranWorks restaurant brands: Original Joe’s, State & Main, and Elephant & Castle. Brookline provides ongoing support for all brands particularly in the areas of restaurant openings, menu updates, community investment, and crises situations.

To generate regular coverage for FranWorks, Brookline employs several methods of engaging the media.
