March Madness at Brookline PR – World Cup of Hockey 2028

Posted on March 31, 2026

March is a month full of energy, excitement and big moments that many call “madness.” While basketball often takes the spotlight, at Brookline we thrive on our own kind of March madness: fast-paced projects, major announcements and opportunities to keep us busy!

While March is known for basketball, we didn’t mention Brookline’s deep love for hockey! This month, the team had the opportunity to support Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation with the announcement that the World Cup of Hockey 2028 is headed to Alberta. A major milestone for tourism and economic development across the province—and for Calgary—the announcement comes at an exciting time, with construction of Scotia Place already in full swing.

Beyond bringing world-class talent to the city and showcasing Calgary as a destination for major events, the tournament is projected to generate an estimated $375 million in economic impact for Alberta, supporting over 43,000 jobs and filling nearly 172,000 hotel rooms.

Brookline supported asset development and led the media relations strategy, with the World Cup of Hockey announcement generating over 2,000 media hits on announcement day and nearly 4,000 throughout the week and nearly 6 billion in reach.

This is the kind of March “madness” that keeps us on our toes. It’s fast, furious and exciting moments like these that make our work so rewarding and remind us of the real impact we can make. Our team was thrilled to support such a high-profile announcement, putting our media relations, project management and storytelling skills into action.
