Calgary is now home to North America’s first asphalt shingle reprocessing facility, and Brookline was proud to support Northstar Clean Technologies (Northstar) in celebrating this significant milestone. At the grand opening of its Empower Calgary facility, Northstar also announced that it had secured a five-year contract with The City of Calgary to receive and repurpose all of the City’s disposed asphalt shingles.
Brookline managed media relations and event logistics to ensure a successful launch, which included pitching the media advisory and press release, as well as coordinating media interviews and media scrums. As a result of Brookline’s efforts CTV New, Global News, CBC News, Radio-Canada, The Calgary Herald, Livewire and AllAlberta were all in attendance, generating significant coverage for Northstar.
Brookline’s onsite team managed event day logistics, including the guest list and RSVPs, coordinating government officials, preparing speaking notes for Northstar’s President and CEO, Aidan Mills, and managing vendor set-up and take down, catering, photography, videography and the official ribbon cutting.

Guests at the event included investors, government officials and industry leaders. Chantelle de Jonge, MLA, Chestermere – Strathmore, and Justin Riemer, CEO, Emissions Reduction Alberta spoke and congratulated Northstar on the successful opening of the facility.
Brookline was thrilled to support Northstar with this successful grand opening that highlighted the company’s leadership in sustainability and marked a crucial step forward for Calgary’s circular economy.
