    Shauna MacDonald

    Principal & Founder

    Fearless leader, client counselor, urban rapper

    When Shauna announced she was opening her own firm, the constant response was "It's about time!"

    Getting her start in PR with a Boston-based public relations and strategic communication agency, Shauna provided strategic public relations expertise to companies of all sizes throughout New England, the U.S. and the world. For five years, prior to starting Brookline, Shauna was Vice President and Managing Director of Western Canada for an international public relations firm, as well as the Marketing Communications Practice Leader for its Canadian operations.

    Shauna obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University and a Master’s degree in Communications from Boston University. She also holds an Executive MBA Certificate from Babson College and is a current Board Member with Tourism Calgary. Her extensive experience in both Canadian and U.S. markets has helped various companies from start-up to established, gain and sustain market leader positions.

    If Shauna was not in public relations she would be a rock star. Her love for the stage makes her a dynamo in new business meetings and a networking pro.

    One of her most memorable moments was making a major presentation to the Board of one of Canada’s most recognized and coveted brands. She had decided to wear a new power suit and had just purchased a new pair of Jimmy Choos. However, the heel broke on the way to the meeting but she had a pair of flip flops in her vehicle. Flip flops or broken heel? Needless to say, the Board had a few laughs about her “beach” attire and we secured the business.


    Julie Redmond

    Administrative Coordinator

    Fashionista, administrative guru, creative extrovert

    They say fashion is fearless, well, so is Julie. After moving to Calgary from the rival City of Champions, she gained an edge that allowed her clothing to sparkle and her organizational capabilities to shine. She supports the staff, is a resourceful team player and is always ready for a new challenge.

    Julie has always had a desire for all things creative. This is highlighted in her administrative and event planning skills sparking from her schooling at Grant MacEwan University leading all the way up to supporting a large architectural firm in Calgary. Her curiosity for an inspired atmosphere where she could share her administrative flair led her to Brookline. Brookline is Julie’s number one client and she strives to ensure in-house events, marketing communications and office management are all skillfully completed.

    She is supportive, accountable and effectively manages the day-to-day operations of Brookline and proactively organizes administration needs of the office. Julie ensures the administrative deliverables of client accounts are expertly executed and knowledgeably supports team members on organizational tasks.

    Her most memorable moment was sitting in Paul Brandt’s truck listening to a clip of his new hit song Get a Bed before it was released.


    Lisa Libin

    Group Director

    Small stature, big ideas, huge passion

    She may be small, but she is mighty. With more than 12 years of communications & marketing experience, Lisa has planned & executed winning campaigns for some of the world’s heavy-hitters, including Microsoft Canada, Mattel Canada, Fisher-Price, Nintendo of Canada and Payless Shoesource.

    With an honours degree from the University of Calgary and a PR certificate from Humber College, Lisa has worked for a variety of global agencies as well as for non-profit and corporate organizations, including Canadian Blood Services and Rogers Communications.  She has successfully led companies through major crisis and brand reputation issues and loves finding creative ways to help companies fight through the media clutter to make an impact.

    Lisa’s strengths lie in thinking “Big” - seeing potential opportunities for clients in areas they might not have thought of before. Her passion for her work means she takes everything on in full-force, ensuring that while she may look short, she has a large effect on those who work with her.

    As a self-proclaimed extroverted home-body, Lisa can be found anywhere from the ski slopes to curled up on the couch with a good book or show.

    Her most memorable moment was being grilled by ten sets of the most stylish eyes in the industry (fellow Brookliners) during her interview process.


    Alisha Samnani

    Account Supervisor

    Local hot spot connoisseur, brand strategist, creative catalyst

    With a pulse on what’s hot and trending, Alisha offers a rare blend of big picture thinking and strategic execution. As a tried and true agency girl, Alisha has worked at some of Canada’s leading public relations agencies and has represented some of the globe’s most reputable brands.

    Alisha graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts degree and continued on to complete her Graduate Diploma in Public Relations Management from McGill University. Her specific expertise lies in pinpointing public engagement opportunities and developing tailored communication strategies for her clients. As one of Brookline’s leading crisis communications and issues management team members, Alisha provides regular counsel to big business in highly susceptible industries.

    When she’s not at the newest chef’s table or front row at the biggest name in music, you are most likely to find her organizing the city’s most buzz-worthy events or crafting the perfect pitch to get her client’s on the front page. A compelling speaker and inspiring team member, Alisha helps anchor the Brookline team.

    Her most memorable moment has been working with the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre and being witness to an incredible organization dedicated to protecting and healing our youngest citizens.


    Sophie Pilon

    Senior Account Executive

    Fierce competitor, media relations pro, trendsetter

    Sophie is a strong believer that you should do what you love. Sophie is a passionate communicator and, through hard work and a little bit of luck, was able to find her dream job. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Université de Montréal and a Master’s in Public Relations from Université Laval. Sophie is a seasoned public relations practitioner who has previously worked with a variety of companies, including the Montreal Alouettes, Alpine Canada Alpin and the Calgary Stampede.

    Sophie's strengths lie in creating innovative and tailored strategic communications and media relations plans tailored for each client and their needs. Her creativity, coupled with a wealth of experience in sports, lifestyle, not-for-profit and public relations, has led to exceptional results and brand-elevating coverage. Sophie has helped plan and execute large public relations events that enabled her to secure a stockpile of press in top-tier outlets as well as raise the public profile of her clients. Events and organizations she has contributed to are Tourism Calgary, Jack Daniel’s, Ford Canada, Encana, Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Games, Air Canada, Cathay Pacific, KLM, Edo Japan and Swimco to name a few.

    Sophie’s drive and competitiveness has enabled her to push outside of her comfort zone and challenge her boundaries. She lives that motto in both her personal and professional life. Sophie adds a dynamic quality and savvy influence to the agency. Her public relations experience and passion for knowledge brings numerous skills and know-how to her role at Brookline.

    There has been so many memorable moments during her time at Brookline, it’s really hard to pinpoint one. That said, coming from a sports background Sophie’s most memorable moment was helping George Gosbee and his team manage the Canadian media relations while they were working on the deal to buy the Arizona Coyotes. Here’s a little professional tip: Wrangling six of the owners of the Arizona Coyotes at a Stampede party to take a picture for a top-tier newspaper is as hard as it sounds!


    Leanna Kruk

    Senior Account Executive

    Multitasker extraordinaire, strategic leader, devoted optimist

    A native Torontonian, Leanna is proud to call herself a converted Calgarian. With a solid foundation in strategic brand management and overall campaign strategy, Leanna has led and managed a variety of national and international client campaigns.

    Leanna completed a post-graduate certificate program in Corporate Communications at Centennial College in Toronto. Leanna started her PR career in agency, working for a variety of top rated PR firms and associated clients. A creative and passionate PR professional, Leanna has well-rounded client experience that has included design and decor, hospitality and tourism, food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, real estate, financial and transportation.

    Leanna incorporates her multitasking skills as a mother of two into her daily work life. She is a pro at making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with one hand, booking a play-date with the other, all while singing along to Raffi’s greatest hits. Her life lessons as a mother has taught her to bring these valuable skills to her career by providing clients the ability to take on several challenges while staying on task and focused on outcomes.

    Her most memorable moment at Brookline was when she had the opportunity to drive and successfully reverse park (without hitting anything) a 37 foot school bus as part of a media awareness campaign that focused on back-to-school bus safety tips.


    Madison Olyniuk

    Senior Account Executive

    Event planning whiz, crisis communications maven, celebrity gossip enthusiast

    Equipped with her CP Style Book and Grande Starbucks, Madison is ready to conquer any PR challenge.

    With a passion for communications, a degree from the University of Calgary and previous agency and government sector experience, Madison offers a fresh approach and creative solutions for her clients. Working with clients in a variety of industries, including not-for-profit, technology, hospitality, business and lifestyle, Madison supports their unique needs with passion and a creative flare. She has a wide array of skills and enhances the team with her strong knowledge of Canadian media, event management expertise and well-rounded social media skills.

    Whether it’s a New York Times best-seller or the latest issue of InTouch weekly, you can always find Madison diving into a new piece of literature. Through the written page, Madison enjoys leaping into new worlds, learning new ways to communicate and staying up to date on who wore it best.

    Her most memorable moment was planning the opening of Canada’s newest and longest runway at the Calgary International Airport. Two days, 8.4 kilometres, 300 volunteers, 25 third-party vendors and 7,000 event attendees. Need she say more?


    Douglas Self

    Account Executive

    Jargon averse, curious traveller, tech junkie

    Doug’s strong background in PR and marketing in the technology sector provides him a forward-thinking perspective, particularly with new and innovative companies. Working with early-stage startups to multi-national corporations, his experience in communication strategy, content creation, and media relations have been applied to a number of industries.

    After receiving his B.A. in Business Administration – Marketing from Western Washington University, Doug held marketing roles in the Seattle area then jumped to agency life with a move to Boise, Idaho. Following his marriage, Doug was granted Canadian permanent residency and trekked north to his new home in Calgary.

    Though tech has always been Doug’s forte, he has also provided communications counsel and tactical execution for the non-profit, hospitality, and tourism industries.

    If Doug doesn’t answer his cell, he is likely playing in the mountains, at a show to feed his insatiable need for live music, stressing over a soccer match, or trying to keep up with his wife while running the trails around Calgary.

    Doug’s favourite memory at Brookline is a toss-up, the first being his first day with the company, understanding just how quickly and efficiently projects get up-and-running with three new business meetings that first day. The second is rapping a modified Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song – the full version – during a staff meeting.


    Lori Koebel

    Account Executive

    Analytical thinker, at-home culinary queen, grammatical stickler

    Stemming from a passion for writing, Lori’s broad communications background brings a variety of skill sets to the team. She believes that striving for excellence achieves greatness, and that relationship building is a crucial career skill. As a strong technical writer, with extensive experience in issues and crisis communications, her calm demeanor has proven indispensable throughout her career at companies such as BlackBerry and ATCO Power.

    A graduate of McMaster University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Lori’s love for the arts is showcased in the compelling, creative work she produces. Her methodical approach is often coupled with eyeing a potential new angle. Continuously thinking beyond the traditional “way it’s been done,” Lori enjoys finding new, efficient ways of tackling projects.

    Lori’s love of cooking nearly took her to culinary school, trading in her laptop for a shiny new set of knives. Now as a working mother with a busy family, she is a self-proclaimed weekday crockpot queen, and weekend amateur chef. If she’s not in the kitchen cooking (while dancing), or tending to her vegetable gardens, you can find her somewhere in the mountains skiing or with her nose stuck in a book.

    Lori’s most memorable moment was watching the Brookline #10yearsofhappy video and instantly knowing she needed to meet the Brookline team. After only the first couple of days (more likely hours) as an official Brookliner, Lori knew the realization was accurate - and she is now part of an incredibly diverse and talented team!


    Alison Walker

    Account Specialist

    Passionate storyteller, creative thinker, Internet dog enthusiast

    Armed with a quirky sense of humour and an eye for the obscure, Alison loves thinking out of the box for clients. From her background in the oil and gas and non-profit sectors, Alison brings an understanding of the importance of strong branding and effective storytelling.

    She graduated from Mount Royal University with a Bachelor of Applied Communications, majoring in Public Relations. Years of school and working on tight-knit office teams have taught Alison the value of being a strong team member and trained her keen eye for detail. She is adaptable, reliable, and is always listening for what will help her clients stand out.

    Alison loves television and relishes that the era of HBO and Netflix has finally made a 6 hour Good Wife marathon socially acceptable. Her love of the small screen speaks to an understanding of the power of a good story, and Alison is enthusiastic about helping clients share theirs in fresh and exciting ways.

    Her most memorable moment was donning a fannypack and showcasing her best aerobic moves during a Body Break skit for her newbie presentation.


    Ashlee Smith

    Account Specialist

    Analytical Tactician, Community Minded Professional, Dance Floor Worshipper

    Not a surprise to those who know her, Ashlee loves connecting with people and thinks learning is fun. Relationship building is her forte and she strives to one day be half as interesting as The Most Interesting Man in the World. Ashlee believes that to be an incredible story teller, one must first be a committed listener.

    Ashlee has solid work experience in community relations, marketing communications, event management, and media relations. She loves to get her hands dirty and immerse herself in ‘the details’. Ashlee focuses on what success looks like for each project she is tasked with and strives to exceed client expectations. With a background in marketing, public relations and non-profit, Ashlee is equipped with an eclectic skill set. Most recently she has worked on projects for Sanjel Corporation, YYC Hot Chocolate Fest, CIBC Run for the Cure and the Calgary Airport Authority. Ashlee holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, and a Public Relations Management Certificate from the University of Calgary.

    A Brookline PR alumni, Ashlee has returned to the pack and is ready to work hard and play hard; the unofficial motto of Brookline PR. She has a passion for communications and teamwork, something she shares with her stellar co-workers. Ashlee can often be found dancing in her car, spinning at Union or playing soccer.

    Her most memorable moment was planning a client appreciation event for Brookline PR with a surprise performance by country music superstar, Paul Brandt.


    Erica Morgan

    Account Specialist

    Social media whisperer, baking aficionado, detail-oriented mastermind

    Living proof that you can have your cake and eat it too, Erica first dipped her toes into the corporate communications pool at the likes of Telvent Canada and Nexen Inc., before falling head-over-stylish heels into the PR world. Erica’s time in Alberta’s technology and oil and gas sectors has left her with a wealth of knowledge in the areas of internal communications, branding and business ethics, further solidifying her aptitude for public relations.

    Erica graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Calgary where she minored in Business and fine-tuned her communications and event planning skills by leading a number of volunteer organizations. With a special touch for event management, marketing communications and media relations, Erica also brings with her an uncanny knack for hitting the nail on the head when it comes to social media strategy. Her eye for detail, deep-rooted love of writing and colourful sense of creativity are a recipe for success when it comes to delivering above and beyond client expectations.

    Whether she’s decorating a cake or putting the final touches on a client deliverable, Erica’s ability to add a personal touch is sure to produce sweet results no matter the task. With her passion for Brookline’s diverse roster of clientele and commitment to quality results, Erica is always ready to take on the next challenge.

    Her most memorable moment was dancing down the middle of Stephen Ave, lip syncing her heart out to the tune of Pharrell’s Happy under the watchful eye of downtown Calgary’s bustling lunch hour crowd.


    Dakota Sandquist

    Assistant Account Specialist

    Brand guru, adventuress, coordination connoisseur

    Dakota’s middle name is perseverance. Throughout her career she has brought her enthusiasm and self-starter attitude to each project she has tackled. Dakota fell in love with public relations when she was studying international relations and affairs at the University of Calgary. Following her time at the University of Calgary, she decided to pursue a Public Relations diploma from Grant MacEwan University to polish her communications skills.

    After graduating with honours, Dakota fine-tuned her communications, event planning and media relations skills while working with the Hyatt Regency Calgary and the YWCA of Calgary. With successes in implementing complex communications strategies, Dakota has worked with both internal and external audiences to develop branding, implement social media strategies, execute media relations programs, and has an uncanny aptitude for getting significant messaging across to any audience.

    When she’s not busy producing top notch key messaging, you can find Dakota conquering hikes in the Canadian Rockies with her husband and Labradoodle or cooking her next masterpiece.

    Dakota’s most memorable moment was sharing coversation over an Old Fashioned Cocktail with Jack Daniels Master Distiller Jeff Arnett as Brookline helped launch their newest selection in Canada.


    Shae Pollock

    Senior Intern

    Quick-witted thinker, ambitious learner, dedicated fangirl

    With a love for storytelling and an eagerness to explore, it’s no surprise Shae landed in the field of public relations. After gaining experience at well-known companies like Starbucks and Walt Disney, Shae’s desire to communicate in compelling and creative ways was further cemented. With two Brookline internships under her belt, Shae is back and ready to take on the role of senior intern.

    Shae recently completed her Bachelor of Communications – Public Relations degree at Mount Royal University, and is eager to jump head first (again!) into the exciting world that agency offers. Shae’s previous internships have equipped her with valuable industry insight and a knack for crafting messages unique to each client’s voice. Clients have ranged from oil and gas, not-for-profit, business and lifestyle. An optimistic outlook, willingness to learn and keen eye for detail, makes Shae ready to embark on any PR project.

    When she’s not working, Shae can be found binge watching television shows (likely Grey’s Anatomy), baking cupcakes or snapping pictures of her neighbour’s cat. Shae loves exploring her creative side, while discovering more about herself in the process.

    Shae’s most memorable moment was working with the team to launch the Calgary Airport Authority’s newest runway. Not many people can say they drove Hal and Joanne from BodyBreak around in a golf cart on a 4.2 kilometre runway!


    Pauline Tapuska


    Aspiring communications expert, animal lover, out-of-the-box thinker

    As a recent graduate of the Bachelor of Communications – Public Relations program from Mount Royal University, Pauline couldn’t be more excited about her future in PR. Always striving to embrace each opportunity she is given, Pauline has developed a passion for writing, social media and storytelling.

    Throughout her university education, Pauline gained experience in the private, public and non-profit sectors, with her most recent position at ATCO Pipelines as their Corporate Communications Co-op Student. She has a keen eye for detail and loves working on creative and dedicated teams, two skills that were fostered over 10 years as a high performance synchronized swimmer.

    When Pauline is not busy building her communications portfolio, she can be found watching her favourite shows on Netflix, Instagramming her Maltipoo puppies and driving out to the mountains for hikes, camping and bike rides.

    Aside from finishing her university program, Pauline’s most memorable moment was being welcomed to the Brookline family and getting to know each of the talented team members that make Brookline so successful!
