The belle of the ball…

Friday, May 26th, 2017

Ashlee Smith, Account Executive

Brookline provides public relations support on a number of initiatives in southern Alberta for Ford of Canada, including media relations for the 2017 Calgary International Auto and Truck Show.

This year’s Calgary International Auto and Truck Show had something for everyone from small compact cars to heavy-duty pickup trucks, but the real belle of the ball was the Ford GT.

Complete with a roped off perimeter, this supercar showcased top technology including EcoBoost® performance, aerodynamics, lightweight carbon fiber construction and a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6, which produces more than 600 horsepower.

With eye candy like this, it was smooth sailing when securing media opportunities. Brookline garnered multiple TV, radio and print interviews regarding the all-new Ford GT and many of the other outstanding Ford vehicles at this year’s auto show. Media were also intrigued to try out the specially designed driving suits from Ford. These included the Ford Third Age Suit, which simulates sensory challenges experienced in later life, and the Ford Pregnancy Suit, which simulates some of the physical attributes of being pregnant.

Media interviews included chatting with personalities from Global Calgary, CTV Calgary, Shaw TV, Breakfast Television, 660 News, 770 News and Automotive Testing Technology Magazine. Brookline even had the chance to support the media interviews by donning the Ford Pregnancy Suit and the Ford Third Age Suit, for two television segments.

Each driving suit was specially designed by Ford engineers to simulate the challenges some drivers face when they are is specific stages of life such as pregnancy and mature age. While wearing these suits, we demonstrated movements of getting in and out of Ford vehicles, as well as ergonomics of the vehicles.

The 2017 Calgary International Auto and Truck Show was an exciting project for our team at Brookline and we can’t wait to see what Ford has in store for next year!

Ford partners with bloggers to “explore” their bucket list

Bucket List:

□ Go sailing

□ Learn how to surf

Hold a snake (never mind)

□ Write a novel

□ Volunteer with animals

☑ Heli yoga on a mountain top

□ Ride a dirt bike

□ Hot air balloon ride

Brookline Public Relations partnered with Ford of Canada and Robin Esrock, renowned travel writer and TV host, for his Great Canadian Bucket List speaking tour. As part of Brookline’s extensive public relations services, we invited media and key influencers to join Ford and Robin who would help them check an item off of their bucket list. But don’t be alarmed, we didn’t ask our guests to dive into the deep blue sea and swim with great white sharks or eat monkey brains like a scene out of Indiana Jones. Instead, we took them on a helicopter ride to participate in a guided yoga session at the top of a mountain in Kananaskis Country!

The day began with participants driving out to the Rocky Mountains in the new 2016 Ford Explorer. It had all the latest technologies and the drive was made much more enjoyable with the massaging seats feature. Who needs a day at the spa when you can have it all while you drive or ride along in a Ford Explorer?! The Explorer also featured the Foot-Activated Hands-Free Power Liftgate which automatically opens the trunk by simply kicking your foot under the bumper. I was completely blown away by such a thoughtful and innovative technology, proving that Ford really thinks of everything!

We found ourselves riding through a few Alberta dirt backroads, but it was nothing that the unstoppable Ford Explorer couldn’t handle!

Once we arrived at our destination, we were greeted by the friendly crew from Rockies Heli Canada. Robin proceeded to give an informative and inspiring presentation about his many experiences traveling around Canada and the world. Even with all the incredible things he has seen and done, Robin emphasized that the places you visit are only as good as the people you meet along the journey. Essentially, it is the interactions with people that truly shape your experiences and ultimately become cherished and unforgettable memories.

Rockies Heli Canada shuttled the participants to the top of a mountain on a thrilling helicopter ride. Once I planted my feet on firm ground on the mountain peak and inhaled the fresh air, I was enveloped by an overwhelming feeling of tranquility. Being completely surrounded by panoramic views of the Rockies and vast Alberta foothills is a sight I won’t soon forget. A yoga session soon followed where we had the opportunity to showcase our best downward facing dog. Trust me, it’s a lot tougher than it looks!

Perfect location to be one with nature!

This experience demonstrated the wonders that spending time on a secluded mountain can do for the mind and soul. To reiterate some of Robin’s teachings, bucket lists are meant to be unique as each individual has their own interests and aspirations. There is a wide misconception that bucket list items are supposed to be extreme, but that is definitely not the case. In essence, it is an activity or experience that should excite you, and even challenge you. It is when you try different things and are open to new possibilities that you learn more about the world around you, but more importantly, about yourself as well.

I’d like to thank Ford of Canada, Robin Esrock and Rockies Heli Canada for such a memorable experience and the opportunity to ✓off an item from my bucket list!

Now tell me, what’s on YOUR bucket list?

Hittin’ the Road in Style Thanks to Universal Ford Lincoln

Brookline is excited to be working with Ford of Canada once again and we are looking forward to supporting their Southern Alberta grassroots public relations activities. We’ve supported the iconic brand with some exciting projects these past six months and we are thrilled to share some highlights in the following weeks. Enjoy the read, we sure enjoyed the road!

When driving on Alberta roads, safety is the first thing on everyone’s mind. So, when we had to hit the road in the middle of winter and head to Edmonton for a client media event, our first thought was we need a safe, reliable vehicle. We are precious cargo after all!

Ford 1

We took the opportunity to experience a brand new 2017 Lincoln MKC loaned to us by Universal Ford Lincoln here in Calgary. For two ladies who own dated, shall we say, vehicles, we were tickled pink and jumped at the chance to safely travel in style to our northern neighbouring city.

Technology has come a long way in vehicles with Ford offering an array of new technology across their lineup, and the 2017 Lincoln MKC is no exception. While driving the burgundy beauty, we noticed the lane keeping system which monitors road lane markings and helps drivers detect unintentional drifting outside of a lane. If the camera detects an impending unintentional drift, the system can use the steering system and the instrument cluster display to alert and aid drivers to stay in their lane. Needless to say, we had fun testing it out, safely of course!

Ford 4

Yes! We were listening to rap oldies!

Ford 5

The Lincoln MKC made a dull highway drive to Edmonton a real treat for us and we securely arrived on time for our media event and couldn’t wait to get back on the road in our luxury ride!
