Countdown to the 100th Calgary Stampede

As a native Calgarian, I’ve been able to amass so many great memories of the Calgary Stampede. At a young age, I remember the excitement of witnessing my first Stampede parade; the thrill of riding a ferris wheel for the first time on the midway; and, years later as a young teenager, the pride accompanied by getting my first job as an usher at the Stampede’s pig races. Over the years, Stampede has always been an important tradition for me to share with friends and family.

Last week, Calgary gathered to celebrate the start of the 100 day countdown to the 100th Calgary Stampede, taking place July 6-15, 2012. Thousands gathered at Olympic Plaza to celebrate the upcoming Centennial, including a performance by Brookline client and country superstar Paul Brandt, who will be headlining this year’s grandstand show, aptly entitled “Century”. Other announcements included the naming of this year’s Parade Marshall – iconic country singer Ian Tyson.

Without a doubt, Stampede 2012 will be a busy one for the team at Brookline Public Relations, as we work with our clients on various Stampede-related events and projects. We can’t wait to do our part to help make the 100th Stampede the best one yet. No matter where you’re from, I encourage you to be “Alberta bound” this Stampede.

It’s never too early to say it, so here goes – Yaaahooo!
