STARS HELICOPTER “STRANDS” CEOS IN KANANASKIS COUNTRY FOR A GOOD CAUSE

Brookline recently partnered with the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) to support with event logistics and media relations for a unique and innovative event. The STARS helicopter airlifted five prominent Calgary CEOs and dropped them in a remote mountain location in the heart of Kananaskis Country. Why you ask? For a good cause of course.

The CEOs were left “stranded” with nothing at their disposal but their cellphones to collect donations and earn their way off the mountain, leaving their fate in the hands of family, friends and colleagues.

STARS partnered with George Gosbee, President and Founder of Altacorp Capital Inc. to challenge members of the Calgary business community to participate in the first annual CEO Rescue in the Rockies for STARS. The adventurous competitors who dared to accept George’s challenge included Bill McCaffrey, President and CEO of MEG Energy Corp.; Kevin Neveu, President & CEO of Precision Drilling Corporation; Don MacDonald, Chairman of Sanjel Corporation; and Craig Stewart, Executive Chairman of RMP Energy Ltd.

The CEOs had one goal in mind – to make fundraising history by raising the largest dollar amount in one day for STARS. After facing a series of survival challenges throughout the day, and with bragging rights on the line to see who could raise the most money, the end results were astounding.

CEO Rescue in the Rockies for STARS raised a record-breaking $1.3 million to help ensure that STARS’ emergency medical response services stay in the air as a valuable resource by providing a safe, rapid, highly specialized emergency medical transport system for the critically ill and injured.

This year’s philanthropic participants are considering challenging a new group of CEOs to beat their record, and who knows, as veterans of the event, maybe even choose the new secret location.
