2008 Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure

For the fourth year in a row, Brookline Public Relations worked with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure to raise more than $1.5 million for breast cancer education, awareness and research.

On October 5th, 2008 the 17th Annual Run saw more than 10,000 participants who came out to run or walk one or five kilometres in support of breast cancer. The Southcentre Mall parking lot was overflowing with outrageous costumes, pink balloons and various sponsors, volunteers and supporters fueling excitement for the big event.

Once again, local a cappella quartet, The Heebee-geebees, raised everyone’s spirits with a performance of lively tunes and humorous commentary. This year, Calgarian singer/song writer, Crystal McGrath, also took the stage and dedicated a special song to breast cancer survivors.

Catriona Le May Doan, two-time Olympic Gold Medallist and Honorary Chairperson, offered up inspiration and led the run for the fifth time.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure is in 55 communities across Canada and is the largest volunteer-based, single-day fundraising event for breast cancer.

Brookline is proud to have been part of such a hugely successful event.
